Their Souls Enchanted Sings - Vismaya (Group 6)

To love, to learn, to grow together.
We, as Heartians, have been doing exactly that.
Reciting our College Anthem opens up a whole new inspirational and motivational perspective among all of us. Personally speaking, the sail of our journey, the perils and turmoils of thunder and hail faced during our toughest times and the saviour represented through God's smile, is my favorite. The depth of emotion conveyed in those two lines left me completely spellbound.

Like the anthem says, our souls are enchanted as we pursue through our thoughts at the shimmering shores of time. The anthem inspires us to explore and gain knowledge from everywhere. It expresses how God's presence gives us the courage to move forward, like the tortoise in the story of The rabbit and the tortoise. It gives us the destination of the unknown freedom that is locked up in ourselves and to which we ourselves hold the key, to be opened when we stand up for ourselves with God as our treasured compass.

Rarely have I read a piece of writing that made me feel that even climbing the highest of peaks, swimming the longest rivers, writing the biggest novels, or the most meaningful poems, all the tough moments, to be the happy pills of life that we can achieve if we dare to dream of it and follow God's path and vision of grandeur and love.

I feel that I deeply owe a lot to every esteemed person who made a contribution in making this College Anthem. It is a brilliant piece of writing that should break off from being a cocoon and fly like a butterfly to spread its message to the whole world.

An Ear to Hear - Vismaya(Group 6)

Amma that happened
Amma this happened
Amma she did this
Amma he did that
Tirelessly going through the day's events
While she did her works,
Asking questions when she got careless
And getting the right answers,
Be it day or be it night
With an open heart and a brilliant mind
Is she ready to listen to my pestering noise.
Oh where will I find a better listener
Than my very own mother.

Her laughter at my best jokes
And her dilemma at my lame ones,
Both are ones I equally cherish.
The snow of my summer
And the sunlight of my winter
The wind that wipes away my tears
And the one who helps me bloom,
Where will I find a better best friend
Than my very own mother!

Letter to 2020 -Vismaya (Group 6)

Dear 2020,

Your elder sister was pretty good to me.
2019 had been a rollercoaster. It had its ups and downs, but when I think of the year now, it brings a certain happiness which cannot be expressed in words. I sincerely wish you'd do the same for me.

2019, I guess, changed me quite a bit. I was a school going student at the beginning, with the Board exams stressing me and at the end of the year, had already become a college student. The change was huge, but I was able to cope up with it due to the love and support I got from this class.

I look forward to spend more time here with the people I love and care about. I wish this year to bring happiness to all of us and to make a fruitful path to 2021.

For a long time, we've heard about 2020 vision and now it's time that we live through it. The stars and lights of 2019 has been put down, but let that light now shine bright througg us and our actions. I wish this year would flow like a ariver. There may be obstructions, but at the end of it all, it reaches its destination successfully. I don't expect 2020 to be filled with happiness alone. Being happy and sad are two sides of the same coin and I wish that at the end of the year, when I look back at 2020, I'd feel worthy of having lived through that coin.

The Past -Arundhathy (Group 6)

I was in love once
But not anymore
It was a long loitering summer fling
And soon he turned my soul cold
I have never felt this desired or
determined before
But he left me, heartlessly, for spring
And now, summer is set again
The sun is up and the bees are buzzing
But something changed
I lost something
I lost me
I lost my smile
And now I miss the old me

The Peril -Vismaya (Group 6)

Two options. Sacred Heart College or St. Teresa's College. It was a dilemma, though my heart and mind had always been tilted towards SH college. Getting an admission at these colleges was not an easy mountain to climb and I, for one, was yearning for this college.

But due to my "extreme luck", I got called to STC, but was left with a much more curious position of being given a spot allotment at SH college. Maybe it was because I didn't want to go there in the first place, but it was honestly a nightmare. Having expected to get admission at SH college, i felt like a fish trying to climb a tree at STC.

On one such gloomy day, sitting in my class as the lecture went on, I was pretty much lost in my world of schoolmates and nostalgia when I noticed a familiar face at the door. It was my mother with a brilliant smile on her face; and I knew, I knew that I'd been called from here. My joy knew no bounds, I was literally thrilled. I might as well have been the happiest soul in the world during those moments.

Now, when I think of my previous college where I spent around 3 weeks, I still feel terrified by how badly I couldn't adjust there. But the few friends I made there are still some of the best mates I could ask for. Coming here, I was able to cherish the best of days, creating memories that I'll preserve in my heart forever.

A Day to Remember- Austin(Group 6)

Hridyasamarpitha Sangamam was an alumni meet up for those who studied at Sacred Heart College years before. It was held on 8 February 2020 in the College Auditorium. The function started with the Holy mass in the Monastery Chapelen. Afterwards, all of us moved to SH college auditorium for the gathering.

The main person of this gathering was Mar. Antony Kariyal, the Cardinal of Ernakulam-Angamaly archdiocese. The principal Fr. Prasanth cmi was the main organiser of this function. The programmes included discussion and question-answer sessions which were presented brilliantly, increasing our perspective towards the world as a whole.

There were entertainment programmes as well. This included a melodious session presented by the Music Club of the college. This was followed by a splendid performance by the Dance Club which left us all mesmerized. All the memebers who attended the function had an extremely wonderful time. As a whole, it was a beautiful experience, a memory that I'll cherish in my mind forever.

Seasons Of Life-Meenakshi Manoj

The  Seasons of life
◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆
Life is like seasons
Like the first drop of the rainy season
New born, enters without much reason
Flooding the heart of his mother,
With the rain of tears.
Then the spring of life,
The youth, we start our journey new,
The flowers bloom and the skies blue,
Flies freely like a butterfly,
Tasting the nectar of all.
Its summer soon and he is mature
Fare love and kids, home and career
The summer and winter of life
With the problems of adulthood
And the memories of the spring.
It goes on....
Till the autumn,
The foilage falls, the hair turns grey
Then life falls,
Like the falling leaves of autumn
Which doesn't have the greenish
Young look
And there it ends,
The seasons of life.

An appreciation of Poornima's work❤️ - group 3

Every year bestow us with new rays of hope and desires. The letter is an inspiration to heal the deep wounds of life. Time is an urn of memories that can excavate the past and provide hope for the future. We need to welcome every year amalgamating the fragments of past with happiness. This is a noble welcome for 2020 to unravel the new chapters of life.
The last page of my life
                                                     Devika krishna
               Did I tell you?
            Those were lies like
      Thorns that bleed oru heart

              Did I tell you?
      Iam gonna write the last
             Page of my life

            Did I tell you?
Those 16 girls were the characters
          Putting on an act

           Did I tell you?
        Iam gonna sleep
           In graveyard

           Did I tell you?
        I hanged the last
         Page of my life

          Did I tell you?
        Iam petered out
     Yes iam extincted as
      A tasmanian tiger. . ....

MOHABATH-poem by julin kurian group 3

                *MOHABATH*

The loving light of your face
Destroyed all my present memories .
The day we meet was the day  i born again,
The book in my hand turned into the
Booklet of thousands of love letters

You're my down fall  you 're my muse
 I can't stop saying that i love you ,
Its keep ringing in my whole body
Your shiny eyes made me shine too

My head is in the water of love
But still i can breath smooth
Because all of me loves all of you
And i want you too be mine

An Appreciation to Poornima's Letter to 2020–GROUP 5

Poornima's Letter to 2020 is a piece of art. It carries life, soul and moreover literature in it. The more heart and soul she has put forth through this note, the more it reaches people's hearts. Letter to 2020 evokes hope and gives strength to never stop the hustle.
The writer portrays a very healthy approach towards life. She recognises the existence of failures and urges herself as well as the readers to face them. The note moves in a first person narrative. The narration, which is very personal, have helped the readers to travel the world that the author had travelled. The loftiness of emotions that she draws out of her life have provided a space for the readers to accomplish more out of the note.
A sense of belonging that the writer is able to provide the readers is truly exceptional. She has written sore emotions like happiness, voidness etc.in a very appropriate way that the reader is able to feel the words.
The writer has adorned the text with literary devices like metophors, alliterations, similes etc. It adds life and depth to the content. Phrases like 'mountains and valleys','pool of emotional trauma'etc have helped a lot to reach out to the readers.
2020 is portrayed as a challeger in the note. The author is asking the challenger to give her more downfalls as well as new lessons.

Close reading (Group 6): Letter to 2020, Poornima

The depths of trauma, courage, confidence, strength, willpower and finally, hope; so much to take in from this brilliant piece of work.
The letter to 2020 by Poornima is written as a first person narrative basically conducting a self analysis for the year 2019 and presenting a hopeful lookout towards 2020. The various symbols and images used convey an immense depth of emotions, increasing the beauty and splendour of the writing.

She begins by comparing her journey of life to that of mountains and valleys depicting its ups and downs. She expresses the difficulties that she had to endure in the previous year which pretty much shattered her. She "swam a pool of emotional trauma" which shows the depth of despondency that she felt. Yet, this work is highly inspiring and motivational for the readers. This is because of the sheer will and determination of the author to stand up and her fearlessness of falling again. She is a flower ready to bloom even after being plucked, a fish ready to fight for breath in an empty pond and a painting ready to be repainted when scratched with the pains and perils of life. Rather than being discouraged by the tough time that she went through, she looks forward to the new year evolving from her shattered pieces, carrying the fragments of love and hope as well as the failures of the past. We understand that life is not too simple a journey and that we'll have to face many hurdles with courage.

Falling down is not a finale for her cuz she ain't afraid of falling, but is all too willing to rise up and grow again, transforming her negativities into strength and the failures she faced into factors that help her to keep moving forward in life with renewed hopes, not expecting an entire year of happiness but better equipped to face the thunderstorms that the sea of 2020 has to offer.

An Appreciation of 'Letter to 2020' - Group 1 (Close reading)

An Appreciation of 'Letter to 2020'
'Letter to 2020' in it's essence is a message of hope. It breathes life in midst of all the hurdles, trials and tribulations and it moves in first person narrative. The letter resembles Kintsugi, the Japanese art of mending the broken pottery with powdered gold, where the cracks on the pots are beautifully distorted as uneven lines of gold. The writer,in the same way, embraces the cracks. The letter to 2020,has the reminiscences of her past, where she travels back to the mountains and valleys of emotional trauma endured in the year before. The writer affirms her survival through the continuous process of wilting and blooming, hence affirms to grow bravely. The decipherable references to nature reinforces the blissful feeling of hope persisting. The writer is reluctant to leave alone the fragments of better hope, love and failures of the ancestor years which watered her growth. She is under no illusion that life is an easy piece of baked cake. She inturn smiles at the ups and downs in life, which make this piece much more beautiful. She embrace the fact that she who is now shattered pieces,is in the process of evolving into a whole person. She is detaching parts of other people,to end feeling like half a person. The writer disregards the negativity in her life,be it people or words. This piece of writing thus radiate positive rays of hope, which defeats the chances of being critical. She challenges the days ahead,to throw her down,so that she can rise like a phoenix. She becomes a flower who is up for wilting and  blooming, even if it is plucked up.She becomes a fish who assure it's fight for survival once the pond is unfilled, she becomes a piece of art,who is in urge to repaint the scratches. The writer conveys the truth that life is hard enough and isn't always filled with joy.She also pours down drops of hope, which is significant for the growth of a person. The writer is brave enough to metaphorically represent the story of her life, with out which she is empty.
