ROOM ON THE ROOF (BOOK REVIEW) BY GOPIKA SURESH

Room on the roof is a novel written by Ruskin Bond. The main character in this book is an orphaned boy named Rusty who lives in Dehradun. Due to his guardian, Mr. Harison's torture, he runs away from his home to live with his Indian friends in a room at the attic. Mr Harrison and his wife wants Rusty to stay away from the Indians so that they can groom him to be a pure Englishman and Rusty is fed up of them.

This book shows different aspects of villages in India. From the described natural beauty to those hospitable families, everything is shown well in the story. The plot of the story is pure-independent India.

I loved the words. It is so simple and powerful. The lines in the book is the most beautiful that I have ever read. The major theme of the story is that of self discovery, friendships, the uncertainties of the future and breaking the shackles of life. It is also about the first feeling of  love.
I loved reading this book which gave so many values  in my life.
